El Departamento’s design for HOFF’s Amsterdam flagship envisions the store as a neutral, mineral canvas punctuated by bold sculptural gestures. A "carved perimeter" of display niches liberates the ground floor, drawing focus to a central architectural spine: a hybrid seating and display island clad in vibrant petrol-blue Zellige tiles. Overhead, stainless-steel grids introduce a technical edge that contrasts with the serene, lithic walls. A sculptural wooden staircase transitions the journey upward to an intimate, domestic-scale mezzanine. Designed for lingering, this warm, timber-clad lounge houses the HOFF Charm Bar—a creative workshop and social hub that reimagines the traditional point-of-sale. Balancing tactile craftsmanship with precise spatial zoning, the project evolves HOFF’s retail model into an immersive, participatory experience.
